Vietnam Coast Radio Station System provides maritime mobile telecommunication service for Search and Rescue (SAR), allowing two-way communication between ships in distress or nearby vehicles and agencies on shore via the Switchboard of the Vietnam Coast Radio Station System.

1. Emergency and Distress Keep watch

Vietnam Coast Radio Station System operates around-the-clock, receiving and processing distress and emergency reports on the frequency of 7903 kHz.

Crew members should report a dangerous incident at sea by calling the closest Coast Radio Station on 7903 kHz. They should also provide relevant information such as the ship's name, the nature of the accident, the time and location of the incident, the number of people on board, a request for assistance, the local weather, etc.

2. Broadcasting Maritime Safety Information

Vietnam Coast Radio Station System broadcasts maritime safety information to vehicles operating at sea by radiotelephony on the frequency of 7906 kHz.

Information on maritime safety comprises maritime warnings, meteorological warnings, marine weather forecasts, and search and rescue information.

3. Information coordination

Vietnam Coast Radio System System coordinates information sharing between ships in distress or adjacent vehicles and shore-based agencies in order to facilitate search and rescue operations. This information sharing includes:

  • Connecting communication between the ships in distress and the medical centers to receive instructions and medical advice from specialized doctors;
  • Connecting communication between the ships in distress and agencies coordinating maritime search and rescue to report and update information on developments in Emergency events and receive direction from the agencies in charge of search and rescue work;
  • Connecting communication between nearby vehicles and the agency in charge of search and rescue work to receive instructions and coordinate support for the search and rescue process.
