IMN is the abbreviation for "Inmarsat Mobile Number": the identification number for an Inmarsat device installed on a ship.
According to International Convention on Safety of Life at Sea SOLAS 74/88, Inmarsat - C is a component of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). Therefore, Inmarsat - C is required to be installed on all vehicles operating in the A3 sea area (cargo ships, passenger ships, oil tankers, container ships, marine structures such as drilling rigs, exploration rigs, oil storage docks...)
