On 17 May 2026, Vietnam Maritime Electronics and Information One Member Limited Liability Company (VISHIPEL), in cooperation with ORBCOMM, organized a technical workshop introducing the ST8100 Satellite-Cellular Dual-Mode Terminal.
The event also included training on the ORBCOMM Global Wireless Solutions (OGWS) platform, covering API utilization and the use of Postman for data retrieval and system integration. The workshop was held as part of the technical cooperation program between VISHIPEL and ORBCOMM, with the objective of updating the latest technology solutions, strengthening research capabilities, enhancing technological expertise, and supporting the development of applications for vehicle monitoring and management.
During the workshop, ORBCOMM experts presented an overview of the ST8100, a next-generation tracking and connectivity device featuring Hybrid communication technology that seamlessly integrates both satellite and cellular networks. The terminal supports satellite communications as well as LTE Cat M1, NB-IoT, and 2G cellular networks, with the ability to automatically switch between communication channels to optimize data transmission costs while maintaining reliable connectivity under all operating conditions.
