From June 9 to 12, 2025, Mr. Phan Ngoc Quang – General Director of Vietnam Maritime Communication and Electronics LLC (VISHIPEL) – led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the 51st Session of the Advisory Committee (AC 51) of the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO), held at the headquarters of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London, United Kingdom.
The meeting was attended by 39 delegations from member states and intergovernmental organizations, chaired by Mr. Kamal Al Junaidi (Saudi Arabia) and Vice Chairperson Mary Leizl C. Barbero (Philippines).
Key topics discussed during the session included: The performance and future of the GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System), Operations of the LRIT (Long-Range Identification and Tracking) system, Connectivity for Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), The SES Agreement, And IMSO’s financial and internal organizational matters.
Notably, within the framework of the session, VISHIPEL and IMSO re-signed the LRIT Service Agreement using the updated template, reaffirming Vietnam's active and proactive role in the global maritime safety information network.
